Wildscreen puts on show the world’s natural winners
Free public screenings – 9 to 17 October at the Watershed, Bristol

This October, hundreds of the world’s greatest wildlife filmmakers flock to Bristol for the internationally acclaimed Wildscreen Festival. While here, more than 40 of their latest films, all up for awards at the Festival, go on show in free public screenings at the Watershed from 9 to 17 October.

From the moving story of ‘Green’, an aging female orang-utan witnessing the destruction of her rainforest home to ‘First Flight’, the enchanting tale of a hummingbird nesting on a clothesline in Las Vegas, these films showcase the very best in natural history filmmaking from across the globe.

Homegrown Bristol talent is also much in evidence – from the BBC Natural History Unit’s epic ‘Life’ series to the unexpected ‘Wild Places of Essex’ and the antics of ‘Monkey Thieves’.

All the films being shown have been shortlisted for the hotly contested Wildscreen ‘Panda Awards’ – the Green Oscars of the natural world. The Wildscreen Festival itself runs from 10 to 15 October, during which the winning films will be announced.

Harriet Nimmo, Chief Executive of Wildscreen, said: “Bristol is rightly famous for its natural history talent, but for this one week wildlife filmmakers and experts gather from all over the world to celebrate their successes and share expertise.

“We’re inviting people to join in the excitement of the festival and see for themselves films shortlisted for the Wildscreen Awards. They may well come away with their own personal ‘winners’.”

For a full list of free public screenings (taking place over the weekends and weekday evenings), visit www.wildscreenfestival.org/publicevents

Free tickets can be reserved on the day of the screening by calling the Watershed Box Office on 0117 927 5100.

Reserved tickets must be collected from the Box Office 20 minutes before the start time of the film, otherwise they will be released.
